What New York Artists Equity Does for Members

Legislation
NYAEA monitors local, state, and federal legislation and is a strong advocate of bills that support artists in matters of taxes, copyright, and other areas affecting art and artists.

Legal Rights
NYAEA protects the legal rights of artists; advises on exhibition procedures and contractual relations with galleries, art dealers, agents, and clients; makes available information on income taxes and estate taxes.

Programs
NYAEA presents programs such as lectures and artists' panels that feature educational and timely topics relating to art. We provide the ANNY web site and a slide file of members' work.

The Artists Proof
NYAEA's quarterly publication includes news, features, editorials, book and product reviews, show listings, and advertising.

Medical Insurance and Dental Plan
NYAEA offers health insurance, dental plans, disability income insurance, and group term life insurance to its members.

Membership Types

Regular Members
Visual fine artists meeting professional qualifications as determined by the Board of Directors shall be eligible for membership.

Associate Members
An applicant who supports the interests and aims of NYAEA shall be eligible for Associate Membership and all the privileges of the organization other than the right to vote. Associate members are also eligible for health insurance benefits.

Student Members
Art students fully enrolled in a recognized art school or institution shall be eligible for Student Membership with all the privileges other than the right to vote.

Contributing, Supporting, Sponsor, Patron/Corporation, and Life Memberships
An applicant who supports the interests and aims of NYAEA as determined by the Board of Directors shall be eligible for membership.Membership fees are tax-deductible within the limits prescribed by law. All gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
