Paolo Spano was born in Italy. He was educated at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan, Italy where he received a Masters in Fine Arts (art conservancy for historical monuments and paintings), and NYU in the United States. Additionally, he has Certificates in conservancy of historic buildings and from OSHA for the construction industry.
Spano has worked extensively on the restoration of artwork and buildings including the Belnord, Church of our Lady of Pompeii, Young Israel of the West Side, Seward Park Housing, London Terrace, Osborne Tower Lobby, NYC; and the Ohio National Theatre, Columbus. His most important restoration project was the Bialystoker Synagogue, NYC. He restored the entire synagogue including the original plaster frescoes; reproduced stencils, lettering, and murals from the original designs; glazed, marbleized, wood grained, and gold leafed; restored and refinished the ark; and restored the stained glass windows.
Spano has participated in numerous group exhibitions including Club la Marchesa, Modena, and Rizzardi Fine Arts and Cineteca Italiana, Milan, Italy; and Theater for the New City, Kenkeleba Fine Arts, and Cornelia Street Café, New York. In addition, he had numerous solo exhibits in Italy and the United States. Spano designed sets for Theater for the New City,
La Mama E.T.C., Fordham University, Hunter College, and Pace University.
