The following information was provided by the artist unless otherwise noted.
Stuart Krisel's sculpture intergrates the linear description of space by steel with the volume, mass and thrust of stone. The various potentials of form in stone are thus given new freedom in space to assert the life in this classical medium. In this tension of media the pulls and pressures of the artist's comtemporary personal experience impel an imagery which draws on science and poetry both. The craft of the artist directing the interaction of the two media thus articulates his values and feelings in terms of the diologue between stone and steel.
