Biography

Roslyn Rose was born in New Jersey. She studied art at Rutgers University, Pratt Institute, and Skidmore College, where she received her BS degree. Ms. Rose is well known for her etching and assemblages. Recently she has concentrated on the technique of emulsion transfer montages. This new medium allows her to incorporate images from her travels with studio photography. Continuing her interest in the latest techniques, Rose is now adding digital imaging to these montages.

Using a favorite grid design format in assemblages and montages, Ms. Rose separates her creations into segments. She combines these images onto a new surface to offer different interpretations of ancient myths, women's history, and contemporary stories.

Her prints, collages, montages, and assemblages are part of many permanent collections including the Newark Museum, The New Jersey State Museum, Voorhees-Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers University, the Noyes Museum (study collection), and the Newark Library, all in New Jersey. Works by Rose are also in the collections of the Roddenberry Memorial Library, GA, and the McAllen International Museum and the Rosenberg Library, TX. In addition, her work is in may corporate collections including AT&T, Basking Ridge, NJ; Citibank of NY, Moscow, Russia; PSE&G, Newark, NJ; Reader's Digest, Pleasantville, NY; and Nabisco Brands, Parsippany, NJ

Ms. Rose's assemblages have recently been exhibited at the Noyes Museum, Oceanville, NJ; Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, NJ; and City Without Walls Gallery, Newark, NJ. Her photo emulsion transfer montages were recently included in shows at New Century Artists Gallery, NYC; Bristol Art Museum, RI; and Pennsylvania State University, Reading, PA.
