"My vision for my paintings is deeply affected by the sadness and problems all over the world. For my own inner peace I seek to find and bring beauty into my work. Other artists may choose to bring us political messages. I just want to bring an oasis to the viewer. I want the viewer to be touched by simple lovely things that are in nature and in the home: a corner of a summer porch on a hot July afternoon, a pot of geraniums sitting on an antique quilt made lovingly a hundred years ago, a field of sunflowers turning their faces up to the sun. We need to be thankful for these moments of beauty as we too often rush through life."
