Jane Petruska was born and raised in Westchester County, NY. She studied at the School of Visual Arts. She subsequently worked with George Tscherny, a graphic designer, and with Push Pin Studios, both in New York.
Petruska studied sculpture with Leslie D'Or in Westchester. She has maintained a studio in Port Chester, NY for the last fourteen years. She exhibits in various shows in Westchester, NYC, and Long Island, both in one-person and group shows and has won many awards in juried exhibitions.
Petruska works as a sculptor in wood assemblage, stone, and cement. She does collage in mixed media and handmade paper. Her work has its foundation in the human figure which she abstracts in the different media. In her latest work she celebrates life using material from nature, her nature photographs, memories of times past, and poetry combine to sing a song of the earthDas Lied von der Erde.
